For many people, their wedding is one of the most special days of their lives, and naturally, they will want to capture the wonder, joy and happiness of the day through modern wedding photography.

Choosing the right photographer for the occasion is very important to ensure you capture the day exactly how you want it, so here are some do’s and don’ts for getting the best wedding photos.

Do Book An Engagement Session

Doing your research is key to getting the best photos, and the best way to do this and get some incredibly meaningful photographs is to book a session before the wedding, with the best excuse being the engagement itself.

This helps you get to know your photographer, ensure they are a great fit and help you get used to them so you can pose naturally when the big day comes.

Do Be Reasonable

Typically wedding photographers have a policy of discretion; they will look presentable and professional, and during the ceremony and reception will take a range of shots whilst not getting in the way of the big event.

However, they are also people and make sure you treat them right and reasonably. Do not, for example, be like the couple of one infamous story who paid the amateur photographer poorly, did not allow her to have a break and eventually frustrated her so much she deleted the pictures and left.

Do Not Overschedule

Weddings are very tightly scheduled and busy at the best of times, so it is important to ensure that there is enough wiggle room in the schedule to ensure there is time for a dedicated session with the photographer before the reception.
