As someone who offers wedding photography in Dorset, I know that we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to stunning natural backdrops for couples to have their wedding or engagement photos taken.

It was really nice to see some top Dorset beauty spots being recognised with Green Flag Awards recently, which are the mark of high-quality green spaces and parks.

As the Dorset Echo reported, several locations in the county picked up the award, including Durlston Country Park in Swanage. This spot offers some great backdrops for wedding photographs, as it includes the cliffs and spectacular coastline of the Jurassic Coast as well as its green spaces.

Thorncombe Woods near Dorchester, meanwhile, is another spot to be recognised. In spring it’s carpeted with bluebells, while in the autumn you’ll have the gorgeous golds and reds of the leaves as they turn.

Stour Meadows in Blandford is another location to pick up an award and any couple that chooses to have photos shot here could find that they’re sharing the frame with some of the local otters (if they’re lucky).

From Dorset it’s also easy to head across the county border into neighbouring Hampshire, which is home to the New Forest National Park. Avon Heath Country Park near Ringwood was another of the green spaces to be awarded a Green Flag last month.
