It’s fair to say that both couples who were planning to get married in 2020 and any of us who work in the wedding industry have had a tough year. With new restrictions announced in the UK limiting the number of people allowed to attend a wedding to just 15 for the next six months, it’s hard to know what to do.

However, it’s still possible to have a beautiful wedding day with far fewer guests. If you plan carefully, you’ll also be able to share your nuptials with friends and family who aren’t able to attend.

As a Dorset wedding photographer, I’m spoilt when it comes to stunning venues and we’re lucky in this part of the country that many of the venues available have beautiful outdoor spaces.

An article for Entrepreneur recently suggested that choosing more open venues, preferably with outdoor space, is a good option at this time and that certainly makes sense. It allows your guests to socially distance easily and these venues will allow you to have stunning wedding photos to remind you of your special day.

Braden Sutton, a wedding planner in the US, recently told 5 News Cleveland that he believes socially distanced weddings will be on the cards until at least the end of 2021.

Here in Dorset, what are your options? In terms of venues we have the likes of the Italian Villa at Compton Acres, with its picture-perfect gardens, as well as the Harbour Heights Hotel in Sandbanks with stunning views across Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. These make excellent backdrops for beautiful wedding photographs.

Remember that even if not everyone is able to attend your wedding this year, by getting a wedding photographer to capture your special day, you’ll be able to share the emotion and beauty with everyone.
